MY MANY, MANY DOOM WADs

Over the years I've been making levels for Doom, I have made many WADs, some more finished than others.
I'd like to use this site to archive some of my oldest releases, and all of the stuff I know I won't finish but still want out there. So here's a handful!
New stuff will probably come out on another page on this site since I've spent a lot of time developing stuff with at0m and we kind of have a team going. We still have quite a few levels to finish, though.

SILENTAGE.WAD

This is the very first WAD that I ever put out into the world, on the 28th of March, 2021. I'm not sure how long I had been making levels at this point, as it's been so long, but this is the first one I thought was finished enough to put out.
It has a lot of the hallmarks of an amateur map, such as a lack of variety in sector height, mostly flat design, Hall of Mirrors effects, etc. I would totally do almost everything here differently if I were to make this map now.
But I can't hate it. This is how I got my start! It's important to me for that reason. It's not the best to play through, especially since I know I've done better, but you may get a kick out of it.
This one was particularly funny to me for a few reasons - one, it's named after the David Bowie song "Sons of the Silent Age", which I do still love, for the record, and two - I didn't know how to put multiple levels in a WAD so it's just one long beast.

Hello, fellow DooMers. First post here.
I made a single-level PWAD that I thought was pretty fun, but I'll leave you to be the judge of that.
It's a regular, basic, bland level.
No DeHackEd, no new textures, I only changed D_DM2TTL and D_RUNNIN.

Speaking of, here are the song changes:
D_RUNNIN is Last by Nine Inch Nails
D_DM2TTL is Mr. Self Destruct by Nine Inch Nails
Of course, in glorious MIDI form.

I made it roughly over the course of a week.
It's my first level that I've finished, but I have a lot more in my folder, that's for sure.
Please give constructive criticism where needed, I would love to know what I could improve on.
The only thing I can think of is that I maybe should have added more ammo pickups, and maybe the secrets are a bit too difficult to find, too.

There are 7 secrets, placed all over the map.
Soulsphere, armor (or armour), BFG, you can find it!

Oh, yeah. Here are the monster counts.

ITYTD/HNTR: 103
HMP: 122
UV/N: 147

Sorry if the difficulty scaling is a bit wonky, as I said, this is my first level completed.
Also, I only really playtested it on HMP because I'm used to that difficulty, so, that's my bad.

Tested on;
GZDoom
ZDoom
Zandronum
EDGE (works just fine, though it's kind of a weird sourceport in general)
Chocolate Doom (lifts don't work, probably shouldn't use this one)
Pr/GLBoom+ (lifts don't work either, but at least it doesn't crash!)
Runs on all of these, but as you can see by the errors, ZDoom or a deriviative is most recommended. Sorry if that turns you purists off.

Hope you enjoy!

BLACKOUT.WAD

This is my second WAD. This one I'm actually still proud of to a degree. I put this one out just under a month later on the 24th of April, 2021. Guess I had a quick turnaround.
Very important to me because, one, I had learned how to put multiple levels in the WAD, so this one feels like it has at least some care put into it, but also because the person whose tutorials I followed, DavidXNewton, covered my WAD in a video!
(You can even still see my old comment.)
I later expanded upon it with Blackout 2, which is the same WAD but it goes past MAP07. For that reason, you probably don't need to play this over the second edition, as I don't even think there's anything changed between versions.
This one is named Blackout after the David Bowie song of the same name, because I couldn't think of a name for this WAD, so I named it Blackout because that song came after Sons of the Silent Age on the tracklist for Heroes. Not even joking.

Hey, hey!
I'm back with a new WAD!
It's been a while since SILENTAGE, but I'm back!
And this time it isn't just one level!
I learned how to use switches!
My architecture is better!

I started working on this right after SILENTAGE.WAD, so it took ~a month to build
I may update this with multiple releases, like updating the difficulty settings, improving the levels, etc, etc.
Speaking of, the difficulty settings are.. kinda non-existent. Aside from a few enemies added on Hard, you get roughly the same experience playing on Medium or Easy.
But, enough blabbering. Here are some stats!
(Tools used: Doom Builder 2 for mapping, SLADE 3 for importing music)

MAP01 - Entryway
It's a basic techbase. Sometimes a stimpack gets stuck on top of a computer when a monster closet opens.
Kill count:
Easy - 22
Medium - 23
Hard - 29
Secrets: 1

MAP02 - Underhalls
Again, pretty basic. Sewer level with a bunch of enemies, yadda, yadda.
Kill count:
Easy - 65
Medium - 68
Hard - 70
Secrets: 2

MAP03 - The Gantlet
Techbase with a brief section where you go to hell.
Kill count:
Easy - 90
Medium - 92
Hard - 99
Secrets: 1

MAP04 - The Focus
Another techbase, you go into some sort of dungeon in the end because I needed some differentiation.
Kill count:
Easy/Medium/Hard - 85
Secrets: 4

MAP05 - The Waste Tunnels
Hey! Another techbase! You go outside for a bit, there's a berserk secret, you go in a teleporter to hell at the end.
Kill count:
Easy - 89
Medium - 89
Hard - 91
Secrets: 2

MAP06 - The Crusher
Hell. Cacodemons, Mancubi, and a bunch of dead folks.
Kill count:
Easy - 72
Medium - 79
Hard - 83
Secrets: 3

MAP07 - Dead Simple
It's a Dead Simple clone (duh) with a bit of my own spice to it.
Enemy numbers: The same as vanilla Dead Simple.
Secrets: 2

Known bugs:
Dead Simple has a texture bug at the back end, I don't know how to fix it, though.
Report more if you find them!

Music: (FYI, it's level, artist, song title, album.)
MAP01: Dial-up for Murder - Asteroid (MIDI Dreams)
MAP02: Dial-up for Murder - Desert Lake Ceremony (MIDI Nightmares)
MAP03: Dial-up for Murder - Panic! At The Drive-Thru (MIDI Dreams)
MAP04: Nine Inch Nails - Gave Up (Broken)
MAP05: Dial-up for Murder - Soap Cult (MIDI Nightmares)
MAP06: Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug (Lost Highway Soundtrack)
MAP07: Nine Inch Nails - Reptile (The Downward Spiral)

TITLE: Dial-up for Murder - _ ____ _ ___ ____ __ (MIDI Dreams)
INTERMISSION: Nine Inch Nails - The Becoming (The Downward Spiral)
DEAD SIMPLE INTERMISSION: Nine Inch Nails - Burn (Natural Born Killers Soundtrack)

Overall, I think if you enjoyed my last one you'll enjoy this one more.
The only thing I'm not particularly happy with is I think that some of the music doesn't fit particularly well, but you can judge that.

Tested on:
PrBoom
GZDoom
Crispy Doom
GZDoom is the one I recommend, but I'm not gonna judge you if you use anything else.
Anyway, have some fun! Get playing! Rip and tear! (or whatever)

BLACKOUT2.WAD

This is the updated version of Blackout, as I spoke of. Released on the 17th of May, 2021, so as I'm writing this it recently celebrated its 5 year anniversary! Meaning I've also gone 5 years without releasing a new WAD. Fuck's sake.
This one isn't all too special, because most of what I said about the previous WAD could be applied to this as it's effectively just an expansion pack for that. This one also got a DavidXNewton video, though.
I'm still very proud of MAP08 and MAP09. I think those are cool. I've considered adapting them to/remaking them for The Ultimate Doom for my current WAD that I'm doing with at0m, fellow member of Firebombing. Keep your eyes peeled, maybe you'll recognize them...

You remember BLACKOUT, right?
I hope you do.
Because I've got a second part to it!

I feel far more confident in these levels, in looks, gameplay, and difficulty.
Stats are the same from part 1.

New maps:

MAP08
MAP09
MAP10
MAP11
MAP12

Not much, but at least it's more.
So, uh... stats. Here you go.

MAP08 - Tricks and Traps
Shockingly, a techbase. May be a bit easy; it was originally going to be a standalone.
Kill count:
Easy: 86
Medium: 102
Hard: 118
Secrets: 5

MAP09 - The Pit
I don't know what to say besides it's a techbase. Descriptive, I know.
Kill count:
Easy/Medium/Hard: 75
Secrets: 2

MAP10 - Refueling Base
Of course, a techbase. Fun fact: you can get the entire arsenal in this level.
Kill count:
Easy/Medium/Hard: 114
Secrets: 4

MAP11 - Circle of Death ('O' of Destruction!)
Caves, outdoors, wooden buildings.
Kill count:
Easy/Medium: 65
Hard: 67
Secrets: 4

MAP12 - The Factory
Shoot at them until they die.
Kill count:
Easy/Medium/Hard: 30
Secrets: 3

Music:
MAP01-MAP07, D_DM2TTL, D_DM2INT, D_READ_M: Same as last time.
MAP08: Dragonfly - Beatdown (Overcome)
MAP09: A Perfect Circle - Magdalena (Mer de Noms)
MAP10: Rage Against The Machine - Wake Up (XX)
MAP11: Radiohead - The National Anthem (Kid A)
There is no replaced song for MAP12, nothing I had would really fit, so it's just the default track.

Due to me changing the title screen, sky and intermission picture, it no longer works on Crispy or PrBoom. Sorry about that.
Episode 1 sky from this page
Episode 2 sky from this page

Optional weapon replacement pack (all from this page):
Replaces everything but the chainsaw and rocket launcher. Chaingun fire cycle is kinda weird. Also, it's standalone, so you can use it on whatever you want.
Pick-up sprites are not changed.

Have fun, my friends. Hope you enjoy.
